AAA Cards Game #56 - Winter Wonder

Hello everyone,

We have a new challenge up on the blog and it's Game #56 - Winter Wonder.

For my card today I used a digi stamp from Make it Crafty and this one is called Winter Sign
I know how sometimes winter can be cold and we tend to stay in a lot more so I thought I would make a wintery "thinking of you" card for the challenge.

I posted on Instagram yesterday that I used liquid masking fluid to cover this image so I could do a distress ink background and I had put my fingers right on the image before it was completely dry but after it dried and I did the background, it completely ruined the image as the masking fluid was too wet and when I rubbed it off, it took the image with it!

So...I has to start all over again with my colouring.  Yes I know, I should have done that first, then I would have only coloured it once.  Lesson learned!

I coloured in the sign with my copics and I'll list them below.  Instead of using distress ink for the background I used B000 and the colourless blender to create the blue haze.  I then added in some Pico Embellisher in white for the falling snowflakes as well as some gelly roll glitter pen dots.

I die cut the front panel with the new Lawn Fawn 4bar rectangles set with the largest die and glued it directly to the slate grey card stock and left an eighth inch border around it.  I then popped up that pane on to the A2 sized card base.  And for a change I actually stamped the sentiment in Versafine onyx black in BEFORE I added the foam tape, which is something I seam to forget every time!

To finish off the card I added some Wink of Stella to the snow.

Don't forget to head over the the AAA Cards challenge blog to add your project to tour linky.  We always love to see what you come up with.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon!

Copics used:  ), C1, Y28, E44, E49, B000 (I bought most of my markers at Michaels but I've linked two shops below that carry them.)

  1. Gorgeous! Great colouring! I saw your mess over on instagram - I hate when that happens! Try using less fluid next time, it will dry fast and still protect the image with a really thin layer. Great card!

  2. Fabulous! We all have to learn the hard way, but then at least the lessons sticks! Great thinking behind your sentiment.

  3. Great job! I've have the same problem with masking fluid before. I abandoned it in favor of masking paper. I print the digi images and then fussy cut them out. I'd like to be able to make the masking fluid work though. Maybe I'll give it another try. You did beautiful work.

  4. Great job on this card. Your coloring is wonderful. Too bad you had a re-do, but there's always learning in that even if it is infuriating! The end result is terrific!
