Home Sweet Home - Card

Hello everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with friends and family and were able to get in some crafty time.  I have been fortunate enough to have spent time with my family and some time in my craft room with some goodies that Santa brought me.

Now on to my card.

I decided to make a square card as I don't make much else other than the standard A2 or 4bar size cards.  I used Recollections 110# white card stock and the Simon Says Stamp stitched squares dies and I used the largest one for the outside and the thirst largest for the inside.  I love how the stitches are on the inside and out.  Then I used the Lawn Fawn "Home Sweet Home" stamp and die set for the banner and sentiment and stamped that in Memento ink.

I used my foam tape to make the shaker portion of the card and I added in Pretty Pink Posh Crystal Clear and Winter Snow Mix sequins and added in some star and other Martha Stewart shaped glitters (Christmas gift from my Mom <3) as well as some micro beads from Recollections.

I used copics (0, B21, B24 & B26) to colour in the banner to tie in with the sequins.  I then put all that on to a 4.25 x 425 card base.

See you again soon

OCC Day 6 & 7

Hello everyone!

I know I haven't been posting much on my blog lately as we finally got the computer back tonight...Yay!!!!!  Our old one crashed so when we had the data transferred over to the new one we found out that the old one could be fixed.  So...that means I get the new computer!  **happy dance**.

Now on to Day 6 of Copics for Card Makers. I have a BIG soft spot for most anything Lawn Fawn, so when I saw these were in as the class practice images I was tickled pink.  I just love this pup from the Critters in the Burbs and the fox is just as adorable from the Critters in the Forest.

Day 7.  I love this little robot vampire!  He is just adorable.  Sandy took us through how to make the image look more realistic with shadows and highlights with difficult colours such as red, white and black.  She makes it look so easy and seamless but it's a bit trickier than it looks but super fun to do.

Here is what I did for the flowers with the reds and whites.

OCC Day 9 & 10

Hello everyone,

Today in class we are still using the floral stamps and how to use them in different ways.

Here is the card I made for Day 9.

I loved Jennifer's card and I used the WPlus 9 Spring Blooms Stamp set, WPlus 9 Whole Lotta' Happy  and a mix of Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp inks. When stamping the sentiment it's always a good idea to make sure you have the stamp right side up before heat embossing it (to quote the amazing Julie Ebersole "ask me how I know").

Luck for me it worked out and I had to trim up the bottom as I got red ink on it and I have no idea how it got there!  But again, it worked out.  I gold embossed the sentiment as well as highlights on the leaves.  For that I used my Versamark pen. It works just like a copic but has the VersaMark ink and you can put in the ink in the smallest of places.

Supplies:
WPlus9 Whole Lotta Happy
WPlus9 Spring Blooms
Hero Arts Forever Green
Hero Arts Sof Vanilla
Hero Arts Pale Tomato
Hero Arts Red Royal
SSS Green Apple
Martha Stewart gold embossing powder

Day 10

I took inspiration from Jean's card.  I used first and second generation stamping to give me the colour variation and you can't see it but I used Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the leaves.  I cut out three little fish by hand as I don't have any fish dies with scrap paper.  I then used clear embossing powder to make them shiny.  I also used a Viva Pealen-Pen in ice white to make the little bubbles.

Supplies:
SSS Green Apple
SSS Audrey Blue
VersaMark
Judikins clear embossing powder
Spellbinders standard circles large
Viva Perlen-Pen
Wink of Stella clear glitter pen
Cuttle Bug

Thanks for stopping by,  see you soon!

Online Card Classes - Stretch Your Stamps 2 - Day 3 & 4

Hello everyone!

I am participating in another Online Card Class and I am excited to get crafting.  It has been a bit of a challenge getting started as some of my stamps haven't arrived yet but that's ok, they (crossing fingers) should be here today.

I am starting with Day 3 & 4 and we are using the Milo's ABCs from Lawn Fawn.  I was just looking for a reason to by this alphabet set!  (Like I really need one)

So here is what I came up with.  My inspiration came from Julie Ebersole and mixed it up just a little.
These were so easy to do I kept going and I made up a few of them to have on hand.

I used Recollections black card stock ( I have a ton of it so I have to start using it up) and I stamped it on the Recollections 110# white card stock with Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp inks.  I used black gems to tie in the black sentiment.

Supplies:
INK:
SSS - Audrey Blue
SSS - See Glass
HA - Butter Bar
HA - Soft Vanilla
SSS - Apple Green
HA - Forever Green
HA - Pumpkin pie
SSS - Doll Pink
SSS - Cotton Candy

STAMPS

Camp Scrap 2014

Hey again!

Here is something I did up last week for camp.   May had given us some guidelines but I found myself focusing on the requirements, 1,2,3,4 of any combination such as 1 stamp, 2 colours, 3 embellishments and so on.  I was so worried about getting the numbers right that I kind of through that to the side and just finished my project.  I did get some of the numbers on there but I'm not sure what they would be!

I like where this was going and I may try some of the elements on this canvas on a new project in the future.  I used cotton twine, a button, embossing paste, chipboard hearts and some stickers (bottom left corner) that came in one of my SSS card kits from last year.  I used Ranger cranberry alcohol ink and I did five spots of that colour.  I also layers some die cuts from a previous project and then covered it all with Gesso (Artist Loft - Michaels)

Thanks for stopping by!
See you soon,

Camp Scrap 2014 Workshop Winner! That would be me!

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a long overdue post.  A few weeks ago SSS had a chance to win Twitter, all 4 Classes offered in the Camp Scrap 2014 workshop by the talented May Flaum.  So I "Tweeted for a chance to win" and guess what?????  I won!  A BIG THANKS to Simon Says Stamp!

I have to admit that I wasn't sure about the class as I had never even attempted mixed media and wasn't sure if it was something I was going to enjoy.  Well let me tell you...I am having a wonderful and fun time exploring this new medium.  It's allowing me to just "go with it".

May is so talented and has such creativity that it's making me "let loose" with my creativity and I think this is something that I will keep doing even after class.

Click on the blog candy below for the giveaway post (this is the only one I could find but it's not the one I won on)

Click the link below to see what is happening in Camp!  It's worth it.  You don't have to purchase all four classes but they are ALL very interesting.

Now for my Week 1 project.  This is my VERY first mixed media project!

Supplies:
Acrylic paint (Michaels Craftsmart brand)
Embellishements (from numerous SSS CKOM)
Lawn Fawn Into the woods sequins
Tim Holtz stencil (Michaels)
5x7 canvas (Michaels)

I had to get supplies quickly as I found out that I won on the day the camp started.

I will see you again soon!
Thanks for stopping by.

SSS Wednesday Challenge - "Let's be Clear"

Hello everyone!

I am playing along withe the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Let's be Clear".  They are featuring Clearly Besotted Stamps and you have to use something clear on your card.

Today I used a few things and the first is clear stamps.  I used the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea and I used the whale.  For the background I used stencils that I cut out with my Silhouette and used Peacock Feathers and Black Soot distress inks.  I coloured in the whale with my copics and used my white gel pen to add in the dots.

My clear part for this challenge is the liquid glass (CTMH) to cove the water spray on the top of the whale's head and clear Wink of Stella glitter pen on the waves in the background.

I stamped the sentiment in Versa Fine Onyx black ink, which is my favourite for sentiments.

I used Recollections 110# card stock for the whale, waves and the background.

Supplies:
Copic Markers (Michaels)
Lawn Fawn "Critters in the Sea" (kinsalecreations.blogspot.ca)
Silhouette (amazon.ca)
Versa Fine Onyx Black ink (Michaels)
Distress ink Peacock Feathers mini w/ mini tool (SSS CKOM)
Distress Marker - Black Soot (Michaels)
White Gel Pen - Sakura (Michaels)

Monster Birthday Card and Birthday Wishes Card

Hello everyone.

Today I am sharing a couple of cards I did this week.

For the first card I used one of the free Digi stamps from Create a Smile.  This is a brand-new stamp company and she is going to release her first stamp set very shortly.  I was going to try out for the design team didn't get my card up in time.  I used my white gel pen to enhance the monster's little spots.

Suplies used on this card:
Create a Smile free Digistamp
Hero Arts "It's your day" stamp set
Hero Arts Raspberry Jam shadow ink
SSS Stars & Dots stencil (May CKOM)
America Craft Twine (black)
Recollections cardstock (white)
(I purchases theses products at Simons Says Stamp and Michaels)

And for me second card I did some water colouring with my distress markers.  Michaels had a 40% coupon on your entire regular priced purchase so I picked up another pack of the markers.  Their selection for the ink pads hasn't changed in over two years so I'm improvising.

I used the markers for the back ground and the bunnies along with some shimmer mist from Heidi Swapp and Tattered Angel.  I used the Mama Elephant Femme Frames to cut out the paper.

Supplies used for this card:
Mama Elephant - Honey Bunny (Mama Elephant)
Mama Elephant - Femme Frames (Mama Elephant)
Hero Arts "Hero Hues" in black (SSS)
Hero Arts "It's your day" stamp set (SSS)
Heidi Swapp Shimmer mist in Gold and White (Michaels)
Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist in Almost Black (Michaels)
Pattern paper - MME (Home Sense)

Happy Birthday Card

Hello everyone,

I have a card that I made for my mother-in-laws birthday.

I picked up an Art Impressions stamp set from Michaels over the weekend with a coupon and I coloured her in with my distress markers.  I also used the Lawn Fawn Interlocking backdrops.

And since I was on a roll, I decided to colour in the there image that is included in the set.  These ladies are a blast to colour.

Hole lotta cards!

Hello everyone!

Here is a few cards that I have been working on.

This one is from the SSS OLCC Watercolour for carmakers and it was one that I didn't get uploaded.

I used the Tim Holtz stencil and distress inks.  I used the Lawn Fawn stamps and the SSS Hello die.  I used water colour paper and red card stock as the card base.

In this next card I used Stampin' Up ink and stamps as well as watercolour paper and a lighter red card stock.

I think this is one of my very favourite cards I've made so far.  I used a shimmer paint from Michaels (the one for $6.99) and dies and stamps from Lawn Fawn.  Again I used watercolour paper and Recollections cards stock for the base.

Here is a card that I used a Mama Elephant stamp set Honey Bunny and I just love it.  I sewed the vellum and card stock to the card base and I used the little embellishments to make my own background.

This is a tag I make from the Tag you're it die set from Lawn Fawn and the Science of Love stamp set and I water coloured the background and I used the Lawn Trimmings in silver.

This is one I did just today and I it's at the top of my list of being one of my favourites  I heat embossed the clouds and water coloured the background with distress markers.  I used the outline heart in the Hello Baby and the exclamation mark from the same set to make the butterfly.  I water coloured the bird and I used Versafine Onyx to stamp the sentiment which is from the "Hole lotta Happy"  from WPlus9.  I used an olive cards stock for the base.

For this last card I used a spellbinders die set that I have and I used a Tim Holtz stencil and peacock feathers distress ink for the background.  I sprayed it with my homemade shimmer mist (I discovered that when I use my shimmer paints, the shimmer settles to the bottom on the water dish so after I pour our the water I can pour the shimmer into a mini spritzer).  I stamped the clouds from one of my Lawn Fawn stamp sets with Stayzon cotton white ink and the grass is from "Dogs in the park" set from LF onto some acetate.  The cute little kitty is Newton's Nook stamp set, "Newton's Anticks"  and the sentiment is from the same set.

Lawnscaping Challenge #83

Hello everyone!

I'm here today playing along with the Lawnscaping Challenge #83 and it's all about embossing.

I used Canson 140# watercolour paper and Tim Holtz distress markers that I bought from Michaels.  The distress colours are worn lipstick, dusty concord, crushed olive and spiced marmalade.
I heat embossed the hearts from the new Lawn Fawn "Hello Baby" stamp set and I used Ranger white embossing powder.  I then rounded the rounded the corners with my corner chomper and mounted the piece on to a white card base.  I used the new "Thanks" script dies to die cut the thanks out of the watercolour paper.

OCC Day 5 & 6 Watercolour for Card Makers

Hello,  I'm back with Day 5 & 6 of class.

I have to say I am REALLY enjoying this class.  I'm learning so much and having a great time being creative with watercolouring.

Here is my card for Day 5,  or should I say attempt!  I thought I would try to do Swarup's card and I now know this may be a bit more advanced than I though but will definatly come back to try it again.  I know, it's not pretty in any way, shape or form but it was fun to try.  So for day 5 I had left it as is and moved on to day 6.

Here is my card for Day 6 card.  I was inspired I guess from all three designers and their techniques in some way.

This card I used the metal watercolour paint again for the sky that I got from Amazon and used the 140lb watercolour paper I mentioned before and the brown was from my watercolour tubes from Reeves.  For the bunnies (Mama Elephant) I used the Artist Loft watercolour set from Michaels and Recollections kraft card stock.   I heat embossed the sentiment with Judikins detail clear embossing powder and that is from the same stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by and see you on Monday with more cards!

OCC Day 3 & 4 Watercolour for Card Makers

Hello everyone!

Here is my card for day 3 of the Watercolour for Card Makers.  I was inspired by Kristina's card.

I used the Canson 140lb watercolour paper.  for the background I used metallic watercolours that I got from Amazon and I love them.  They give a nice amount of shimmer. I used one of the stamp sets from a SSS CKOM for the flowers and sentiment.  I stamped the flowers with Dusty Concord distress marker and the stems I did free hand with my green distress marker (I think it was mowed lawn) and I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink.  The card size is 3x3.

Here is my card for Day 4.  I was inspired by Yana's card.

I loved how her card turned out.  I did try a couple of different things but this seamed to work the best for me at the time.

I used a stamp set from CTMH that is retired but it's a build your sentiment set and there were a few detailed flowers and a few other images included that worked great with this technique.

I used the same Canson watercolour paper as the first card, actually I bought a 50 sheet pack before class started and that's the only water colour paper I am using.  I have 90lb watercolour paper too but I like the heavier one better.

I used inexpensive Artist Loft watercolours and black Recollections cards stock from Michaels and the sentiment is from Avery Elle Handwriten Notes.  The rest of the sentiment is inside the card.  It's "Happy Birthday To You" and I didn't like the way the "To You" would have looked on the front so I put it inside.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you for Day 4 & 5!

OCC Day 1 & 2 Watercolour for Card makers

Hello everyone!

I'm back on Day 1 & 2 of class and here are my cards so far.

Day 1:

I took inspiration from Kristina's card.  I did try all three techniques but only one turned out.

I only have one background stamp so I took a border stamp from one of the CKOM  and clear embossed it into a pattern.  I heat embossed the sentiment in Hero Arts white embossing powder on vellum and then used some enamel dots that I had made out of those peeler beads (yes I stole them from my kids)  We actually had fun doing it.  I use the Reeves watercolours and it's a set of 18 colours.  I got them at Michaels but I can't find them on their site so I couldn't link to them. (Sorry!) s

Day 2:

Here is my card for day 2.  I took inspiration from Agnieszka Malyszek and her technique was to scrible the paper with watercolour pencils and then wet them with a brush.  I popped it up on black Recollections card stock and die cut a tag from Lawn Fawn's "Tag You're It" die set out of vellum.  I used white thread and clear sequins for the embellishments.  The sentiment is from the May 2013 SSS CKOM Mother's day (I think) and cut it out with my scissors.  I then popped that up onto the vellum and the used Liquid Glass (CTMH) to adhere it to the card.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for another day of fun card making and new techniques.
