Welcome to the Family - Studio Katia November 2016 Release

Hello everyone,

I'm very excited and honoured to be joining Studio Katia for their November Release which is now in the shop.  Here is just one of the cards that I've created with this amazing release.

I wanted to create a shaker card because there are so many pretty sequins I wanted to show them off.  I started by cutting out an A2 sized card panel and used a same sized rectangle die to clean up the edges.  I then took the elongated octagon dies and cut out a frame, which I set aside for another project.  I added a piece of acetate to the back of the panel and then added the middle octagon to the front so it would have something to adhere to.  I then added foam tape to the back to create my shaker.

I stamped the sentiment with Hero Arts black die ink. I then stamped the adorable fox and two hearts with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with orange embossing powder and the fussy cut them out.

I added the shaker part to the card base and made sure it opened the right way (yes, that has happened more times then I care to admit). I added the fox and hearts to the card as well as a few of the same sequins that are inside the shaker.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon.

S'More fun! - Lawn Fawn Card

Hello everyone,

Well today was the first day of school for my girls and it was successful.  My youngest did not do so well at first as she is going into grade 1, but she did great after a few minutes.  My oldest did great, as soon as she saw her friends, mom and dad could be on their way!

I have a card to share with you that I made with Lawn Fawn's Love you S'MORE set.

I needed to get used to my distress inks as I was not getting the hang of the blending part.  I was always getting streaks no matter what I did but stubbornness prevailed and I think I figured it out...for this time at least!  I used Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord as well as Mowed Lawn and Forrest Moss (all purchased as Simon Says Stamp) to give the hills and grass some dimension and I used the Mini ink blending tool and the regular ink blending tool as well.

I used the Grassy Border dies from LF at the bottom as the bottom of the card needed something so I used a strip of grass to fill it in and I think it did the trick.  I did used the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies for the hills as my LF Stitched Hillside Borders Dies aren't in yet (but they are on there way!!!!!!) Unfortunately they are currently out of stock but it won't take long for them to get more in.

I used the Tiny Back Drops with Hero Arts white embossing powder for the starry background and the sentiment which I embossed on a piece of black card stock.  I used my copics to colour in the critters, moon and the flames.

You can't see it very well but I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the marshmallows and the flames.  I used Recollections 110# card stock as well as a Kraft card base and I stamped the LF Woodgrain Backdrops on the base just for an additional element.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you soon with another card.

OCC Bonus Day

Hello everyone,

Here is my card for today.

I used the Up and Away set from Mama Elephant which I adore!  I used the sweet little bunny and reverse stamped him and made two!

I had a bit of a hard time getting a good impression and had to finally just use a black pen to fill in the lines.  I used my Prismacolour Pencils and Spectrum Noir pencils to colour in the images and I don't have Gamsol so I use Mineral Oil and it seams to work pretty good.

Supplies:

Mama Elephant - Up and Away
Mama Elephant - Note Card die set
Vellum
Patterned Paper - SSS CK
Martha Stewart - Gold Embossing powder
Prismacolour Pencils
Spectrum Noir Pencils
Recollections Card Stock
Viva Pen - Ice White (dots)

OCC Days 7 & 8

Hello everyone,

Today I have a card that I made for Day 8 and I was inspired by Nichol Magouirk's card.

I die cut the window out with the coordinating die from the You & Me Flags sets from Simon Says Stamp.  For the ink I used SSS Fog, HA Soft Granite, Soft Vanilla & Butter Bar.  For the sequins I used some Pretty Pink Posh Crystal Clear 6 mm and Lawn Fawn Into the woods as well as the Viva pen in Ice White for the dots.

Thanks for stopping by!
See you soon.

OCC Day 5 & 6

Hello everyone,

Today I have a card for Day 6 and I was inspired by Debbie's card.  Since I don't have the stamp set they use in class, I improvised.

I had a piece of wood paper ( think that's what it is) that came in one of the Simon Says Stamp card kid so I thought I would use that to stamp on.  It wasn't the best thing to heat emboss as the wood did buckle a bit.  I used my copics to colour in the leaves of the Lawn Fawn Botanicals stamp set.  I die cut the hello out of a second piece of wood paper that I was using as a test and coloured that with my copics as well to darken it so there would be a contrast and would be seen.  t used the Lawn Fawn stitched journaling die but I did some partial die cutting as I made the wood panel thinner than the actual die.   The patterned paper is also from a CK from Simon (apologize I don't have the month as I take the kits apart as soon as they come in) and used the Lawn Fawn sequins from Into the Woods as well as May Arts twine that also came in a kit.

Supplies:
Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling die
Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals
SSSCK - wood paper, May Arts twine & patterned paper
Ranger White embossing powder
SSS small Hello die
Lawn Fawn Into the Woods sequins

Lawnscaping Challenge No.84 - Stars & Strips

Hello everyone!

I'm here to share a card I did for the Lawnscaping Challenge Stars & Strips.

I created a tag with the 3 x 4 journaling die and the stars that are in the same set from LF and the scripty "Thanks" die as well.  I die cut the first "Thanks" out of the stripped paper from the "Hello Sunshine" LF 6x6 paper pack.

Then I cut 3 more out of white card stock.  When I put it together it didn't really show up against the white background so I cut one more out of black card stock and put that one on the bottom and offset it by just a hair so it could be seen.

I then I punched two holes with my cropodile and used the Coral Lawntrimmings to make the bow.
I didn't want to waste the little cut out stars that were left over so I randomly placed them on the tag.

Lawnscaping Challenge #83

Hello everyone!

I'm here today playing along with the Lawnscaping Challenge #83 and it's all about embossing.

I used Canson 140# watercolour paper and Tim Holtz distress markers that I bought from Michaels.  The distress colours are worn lipstick, dusty concord, crushed olive and spiced marmalade.
I heat embossed the hearts from the new Lawn Fawn "Hello Baby" stamp set and I used Ranger white embossing powder.  I then rounded the rounded the corners with my corner chomper and mounted the piece on to a white card base.  I used the new "Thanks" script dies to die cut the thanks out of the watercolour paper.

HCW Day 5

Hi everyone!

Here are my His and Hers cards for Day 5 of the Holiday Card Workshop.

I LOVE Laura Bassen, she is very talented and she just cracks me up!

So for my "Hers" card I took inspiration from Laura and found a stamp set (SSS CKOM) and found some stripe stamps.  She was right, this is a bit time consuming but a whole lot of fun!

I used the Hero Arts Red Royal and Pale Tomato shadow inks and used Versafine Onyx Black ink for the sentiment, whis is from the "Christmas" 3x4 stamp set from SSS.  I used the Jillibean twine that came in the Elegant Dec card kit from SSS, the special one and made a bow to use up some on the white space.

This is my "His" card which I took inspiration from Debbie (love her too!).  I used the Paper Smooches snowflakes dies and heat embossed them with the Martha Steward silver embossing powder.  I used the "Holiday Hellos" 3x4 stamp set from SSS and heat embossed it as well with Hero Art white embossing power (this is what happens when you only think to use your embossing buddy after you've turned on your hear tool!)

Thanks for stopping by!

See you soon.

SSS Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes"

Hi everyone,

Here is the second card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday "Anything Goes" Challenge.

I used the tree die and Thanks die from SSS and I distressed the edges of the white card stock.  This card is out of my comfort zone as I distressed the edges and used bakers twine.  I normally don't use either one on my cards but thought this would work for this one.

Hope you enjoyed my card.

Gratitude card

Hi there!

I thought I would experiment with my printer and Silhouette.  Laura Bassen did this with a stamp set and feather die from Kelly Perky.

Since I didn't have the dies and stamps I improvised.  Instead I did up a few words in the Silhouette Designer Edition and printed it on white cards stock twice and on the second one I put the feather (Design ID #34665) over it and that was the only thing that cut out.  I inked up the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink around both and popped them both on on foam squares.

Safe Travels Card - SSS September CKOM

Hi everyone!

Here is a card I did with the SSS card kit of the month for September.

For the card I used Recollections white card stock.  It did start out at an A2 size card but when I was colouring the little car black it had dropped on the edge of the card smearing some black ink on it so I cut it down so it's more like 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 but I think it still looks ok.  I used Hero Arts shadow inks, pale tomato, butter bar and tide pool.  I cut out a circle with my MS circle cutter (which I cut my finger on the first time I started this card!) at 1 1/2 in then I used my Tombow mono to adhere the the car.

Hope you enjoyed the card for today.

Thanks for all you do - card.

Hello again!

Wow!  Three posts in the same morning!!!  Thank goodness for holidays and a cloudy day!

Here is a card I made for one of the ladies in my church...shhhh I haven't given her the card yet!  ; )

I used Recollections kraft card stock and the SSS All seasons tree die.  I love this die but it is a labour of love as I had to take about two days to figure our a shim so that it would cut out all the little leaves but I finally got it and I love it.  I cut the tree out of three different colours of card stock and paper pieced them on to make it like a fall tree.  Totally worth it, don't you think?

I used the SSS stamp set "Inside and Out Sayings" designed my Kristina Werner.  I didn't show the inside of this card and I wrote a personal message but I love the sentiments the stamp set comes with.

I stamped the sentiment with CTMH Cocoa ink.

Hope you enjoyed the card as I enjoyed making it.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon.
