Tic Tac Toe Challenge Fourteen

My first post for today: Mint Owl Studio Post
Hello everyone,

We are back with another challenge.

My choices today are
Embossing / Shaker Card / Paper Piecing

I started out with the Sunshine Layers die from WPlus9 and cut out the front panel.  I then used the MFT Peek-a-Boo die and cut out the window for the shaker. I turned over the panel and added the acetate to the window and used fun foam to add the space required for the sequins.  After I added the sequins to the card I felt the background was too plain so I used the Altenew woodgrain background stamp and used hot fudge MFT hybrid ink to stamp onto the negative die cut from the window.  I added that to the back of the card and added score tap to the fun foam and added that to the card base.

I used the fun owl from Mint Owl Studio's Outrageous Owls stamp set and coloured him in with copics and for his wings, belly and eyebrows I used the Simple Stories Wood and Notebook Basic wood grain paper.  I cut out a banner from brown card stock with the SSS sketchy banners dies and heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.

I then popped the banner and image on foam tape and call the card done.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon.

90's Party

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a chance to hop along with us for our July Release blog hop yesterday.  We had lots of fun creating all the fun projects for you.

My card today was created with the 90's Party stamp set and I have to say this brings back lots of memories.

I started with a piece of distress card stock stamped the pixel type stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Then I used my distress inks to colour the background.

I then cut out the front panel out with a rectangle die along with another white piece of card stock with a larger rectangle die and adhered it to the card base and popped up the front panel with foam tape.

I stamped the cassette tape (Wow! I haven't said that in years.) with black ink and coloured it in with copics.  I got the idea from DT member Lisa as she wrote on her tape as well.  I remember doing this "back in the day" with my tapes too.

I thought the tape needed something more behind it so I stamped and heat embossed some of the element stamps in the set and adhered them to the card.  I added popped up the tape and stamped the sentiment with black ink, added a few home made enamel dots and called it done.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you again soon.

Mint Owl Studio July Release Day Blog Hop

Hello everyone,

I'm here with my very first post for Mint Owl Studio and I couldn't more exited!

Get Well Critters

For my card today I decided to use the Get Well Critters set.  The critters are adorable and I love the little band-aid stamps.  As soon as I saw them I knew I had to use them for a background.

I used light blue ink and the small band-aid stamp and created the background.  I then took a die cut circle from my stash and did some ink blending with the same light blue ink and popped it up with foam tape.  I stamped the crutch onto the die cut with black pigment ink.  Then I took a piece of black card stock and heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder and adhered it to the card base.

You're next stop is the very talented Tara.

AAA Cards - Game #68 Tags

Hello everyone,

We are back with another challenge for you today over at AAA Cards and it's all about tags!  I love tags but don't always how to use them.  Today I created a card with an acetate tag just to add some fun. Check it out below.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Hannelie from desert diva.  Be sure to show her some blog love!

For my card, I decided that I wanted something fun and summery.  It's a beautiful sunny day here and I can't wait to sit out in my sun room with a summery drink.

I used the Mama Elephant newest die set, the Framed Tags Park Ave set and I absolutely love the frame die. It is A2 sized so it will cover a card base. I also love their Maddison Ave die set and use that frame die a lot too.

I went on to cut out a tag with the SSS Large tag dies out of some scrap acetate. My acetate supply came from my sister-in-law and she was able to supply me with a hefty stash.

I stamped, heat embossed and coloured the Flamingo from the latest SSS release Among the Stars. I just can't get enough of those Flamingos! I used the TH distress markers in Warn Lipstick and Black Soot and water coloured it with a water brush.

Since this is a smooth surface, I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink and clear embossed it on to the acetate. This way it will dry. If you don't heat emboss, it never dry.  You could also use StaZon ink and that will dry as it's formulated to work on non porous surfaces.

For the sun, I used the scattered straw distress ink, blended and stamped onto the die cut. I had added white die cuts to the back of the acetate tag but when I stood the card up, the tag didn't sit nicely so I ended up added foam tape to the back of the images and adhered it to the card base.  Oh well, that happens in the run of a card making session.

That's it for me. We hope you'll join us for our TAGS challenge.

Bookmarks

Hello everyone,

I'm here with my first creations with the Warm Weather Animals stamps and dies from the new SSS Among the Stars release, and this set is so adorable.

I gave my daughters a reading challenge for the summer.  My oldest loves books and loves to read, so I challenged her to read 10 books over the summer and at the end we would get her something special.  My youngest daughter does not like to read but I have her the same challenge but for 5 books and at the end of the summer we would get her something special as well.
To kick off the challenge I made them each a book mark to use with their first book.

I took some watercolour paper and created a background for both bookmarks and heat embossed the pineapple with SSS white embossing powder.  I then used the SSS basic banners dies to cut out two banners.

My oldest chose this one with the teddy and with one of the banners I coloured it with my Zig Clean Color markers in yellows, browns and greens and the teddy in brown, like yellow and blue.  I die cut the teddy and added him with foam tape. I them stamped the sentiment in SSS intense black ink and punched a small hole in the top of the banner and added some DMC embroidery floss.

My youngest chose the flamingo one and I coloured these in pinks and green.  I stamped the sentiment on a piece of patterned paper I had in my stash (I'm not pleased with the paper but she liked it) and adhered it to the banner.  I die cut the flamingo and added him with foam tape.
