OCC Day 6 & 7

Hello everyone!

I know I haven't been posting much on my blog lately as we finally got the computer back tonight...Yay!!!!!  Our old one crashed so when we had the data transferred over to the new one we found out that the old one could be fixed.  So...that means I get the new computer!  **happy dance**.

Now on to Day 6 of Copics for Card Makers. I have a BIG soft spot for most anything Lawn Fawn, so when I saw these were in as the class practice images I was tickled pink.  I just love this pup from the Critters in the Burbs and the fox is just as adorable from the Critters in the Forest.

Day 7.  I love this little robot vampire!  He is just adorable.  Sandy took us through how to make the image look more realistic with shadows and highlights with difficult colours such as red, white and black.  She makes it look so easy and seamless but it's a bit trickier than it looks but super fun to do.

Here is what I did for the flowers with the reds and whites.

Online Card Class - Copic Colouring for Card Makers Day 1 & 2.

Hello everyone!

I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything on my blog.  There were some family things I had to deal with and as soon as that was all taken care of and I finally had time to post on my blog again, my hubby's computer wasn't working.  So...with that said it's now up and running!  Thank you for being patient.

On to the newest Online Card Class that is "Copics for Card Makers"!  How exciting is that!!!!
I think I'm safe to say that I am NOT the only one who has been waiting for this class for a very long time.  It's still not too late to join if you are interested.

So for the first week will be about technique and getting used to what your Copics can do.  Sandy Allnock, Kristina Werner & Jennifer McGuire and guests are doing an amazing job at showing us that Copics don't have to be scary!

Here is what I've been working on the past few days...

Day 1,  I love the colours of the present now that I look at it from here.

Day 2...

I'm still having computer issues so I will add links to the teachers' websites in my next post (hopefully!)
That's all for today.  Stay tuned for Day 3 & 4 coming tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey pumpkin - Card

Hello everyone.

I have a card to share and it's my first Halloween card of the season.   I have to admit as much as I love all the Halloween stamps and decorations we are not much into the holiday.

I used the SSS hey pumpkin stamp set, distress inks, LF sequins and Copics to color the kitty and pumpkin. I used Versafine onyx fir the sentiment and a Fabre castel PITT artist pen in size M for the lines around the image. I also used some embroidery thread behind the image to add dimension. The stencil is one I found at Michaels in a four pack of 3x3 stencils. The card is 4x4.25  and to finish it off I used Wink if Stella clear glitter pen but unfortunately you can't see it.

I wanted to let you all know that I may not be posting much in the next few weeks as I have my grandmother who is in palliative care so I'm spending most of my time with her and my family.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lawn Fawn - Thinking of you Card

Hello everyone,

Here is a card I made with the Lawn Fawn "Friendship Grows" stamp set.  I stamped the image with Ranger Archival ink and coloured in the sunflower with distress inks.   I used embossing paste and coloured it with distress ink and then I used Tim Holtz Honeycomb stencil for the background.

I used the Mama Elephant Femme Frames stitched rectangle die to cut it out the panel.  I then cut out a piece of vellum and sewed it on the top and bottom of my panel.  I mounted that onto a piece of mustard colour card stock that came with an old SSS CK and I'm sorry but I don't have the colour anymore.  I then mounted all of that onto my card base which is Recollections 110# card stock.  I used the Lawn Ornaments sequins that came from another CK but they are no longer listed on the SSS website.  I also used Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Crystal Clear sequins as well.

I then stamped the sentiment with Memento tuxedo black ink from the "In my Heart" stamp set, which is SO adorable!

See you again soon.

S'More fun! - Lawn Fawn Card

Hello everyone,

Well today was the first day of school for my girls and it was successful.  My youngest did not do so well at first as she is going into grade 1, but she did great after a few minutes.  My oldest did great, as soon as she saw her friends, mom and dad could be on their way!

I have a card to share with you that I made with Lawn Fawn's Love you S'MORE set.

I needed to get used to my distress inks as I was not getting the hang of the blending part.  I was always getting streaks no matter what I did but stubbornness prevailed and I think I figured it out...for this time at least!  I used Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord as well as Mowed Lawn and Forrest Moss (all purchased as Simon Says Stamp) to give the hills and grass some dimension and I used the Mini ink blending tool and the regular ink blending tool as well.

I used the Grassy Border dies from LF at the bottom as the bottom of the card needed something so I used a strip of grass to fill it in and I think it did the trick.  I did used the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies for the hills as my LF Stitched Hillside Borders Dies aren't in yet (but they are on there way!!!!!!) Unfortunately they are currently out of stock but it won't take long for them to get more in.

I used the Tiny Back Drops with Hero Arts white embossing powder for the starry background and the sentiment which I embossed on a piece of black card stock.  I used my copics to colour in the critters, moon and the flames.

You can't see it very well but I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the marshmallows and the flames.  I used Recollections 110# card stock as well as a Kraft card base and I stamped the LF Woodgrain Backdrops on the base just for an additional element.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you soon with another card.

Cutting Edge Blog Hop - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello everyone,

I'm joining the Cutting Edge Blog Hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.

There are some wonderful sponsors as you can see.

Now for my card.  I was going through Debbie Hughs blog the other day and I was inspired by one of her cards.  You can see it here.

I used the "Under the Sea" set from the Simon "This is the life" release.  I die cut them from the coordinating die set and coloured them in with my copics.  I wanted the fish to look like it was swimming up and down in the water so one of the fish is pointing up.  I popped up one of the fish with foam dots.

I used the coordinating stencil to do the background and I used my Tim Holtz mini distress inks in Salty Ocean and Broken China.  I used the Pretty Pink Posh new die set "Stitched Duo 2" set and I used both pieces.  I had some embroidery thread and used that in the back.  They to finish it off I used the Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Crystal Clear sequins and the Simon Says Stamp assorted 4mm and I think the itty-bitty ones are 2mm and I used those for the bubbles.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine onyx black ink.  For the card stock I used the Recollections 110# white card.

Supplies:

Copics (Michaels)
Versafine (Michaels)
Blending tool (SSS)

OCC Day 11 - Play Day

Hello everyone,

Today is the last day of class and it's time to play.

I was inspired by Laura's card and here is what I did.

I love the gradient colour and I also love my SSS inks.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine and since it stays wet longer I was able to heat emboss it with clear embossing powder.   I used two different sentiments and used a different part of the stamp from each set.  I used the "wherever you go" from Up and Away - Mama Elephant and "shine" from The Big, the Bold & Fun - Winnie & Walter.  I cut down the card front and popped it up with foam squares onto a A2 size card base.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp: Favorite Flowers (SSS)
Winnie & Walter:  The Big, the bold & Fun (SSS)
Judikins Clear embossing powder (amazon.ca)
Simons Says Stamp Inks:  Sea Glass, Mint, Audrey Blue and Soft Navy.
Hero Arts Shadow ink:  Tide Pool (SSS)
Versafine Onnyx Black ink (SSS)
Recollections 110# white card stock(Michaels)

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!

OCC Day 9 & 10

Hello everyone,

Today in class we are still using the floral stamps and how to use them in different ways.

Here is the card I made for Day 9.

I loved Jennifer's card and I used the WPlus 9 Spring Blooms Stamp set, WPlus 9 Whole Lotta' Happy  and a mix of Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp inks. When stamping the sentiment it's always a good idea to make sure you have the stamp right side up before heat embossing it (to quote the amazing Julie Ebersole "ask me how I know").

Luck for me it worked out and I had to trim up the bottom as I got red ink on it and I have no idea how it got there!  But again, it worked out.  I gold embossed the sentiment as well as highlights on the leaves.  For that I used my Versamark pen. It works just like a copic but has the VersaMark ink and you can put in the ink in the smallest of places.

Supplies:
WPlus9 Whole Lotta Happy
WPlus9 Spring Blooms
Hero Arts Forever Green
Hero Arts Sof Vanilla
Hero Arts Pale Tomato
Hero Arts Red Royal
SSS Green Apple
Martha Stewart gold embossing powder

Day 10

I took inspiration from Jean's card.  I used first and second generation stamping to give me the colour variation and you can't see it but I used Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the leaves.  I cut out three little fish by hand as I don't have any fish dies with scrap paper.  I then used clear embossing powder to make them shiny.  I also used a Viva Pealen-Pen in ice white to make the little bubbles.

Supplies:
SSS Green Apple
SSS Audrey Blue
VersaMark
Judikins clear embossing powder
Spellbinders standard circles large
Viva Perlen-Pen
Wink of Stella clear glitter pen
Cuttle Bug

OCC Bonus Day

Hello everyone,

Here is my card for today.

I used the Up and Away set from Mama Elephant which I adore!  I used the sweet little bunny and reverse stamped him and made two!

I had a bit of a hard time getting a good impression and had to finally just use a black pen to fill in the lines.  I used my Prismacolour Pencils and Spectrum Noir pencils to colour in the images and I don't have Gamsol so I use Mineral Oil and it seams to work pretty good.

Supplies:

Mama Elephant - Up and Away
Mama Elephant - Note Card die set
Vellum
Patterned Paper - SSS CK
Martha Stewart - Gold Embossing powder
Prismacolour Pencils
Spectrum Noir Pencils
Recollections Card Stock
Viva Pen - Ice White (dots)

OCC Days 7 & 8

Hello everyone,

Today I have a card that I made for Day 8 and I was inspired by Nichol Magouirk's card.

I die cut the window out with the coordinating die from the You & Me Flags sets from Simon Says Stamp.  For the ink I used SSS Fog, HA Soft Granite, Soft Vanilla & Butter Bar.  For the sequins I used some Pretty Pink Posh Crystal Clear 6 mm and Lawn Fawn Into the woods as well as the Viva pen in Ice White for the dots.

Thanks for stopping by!
See you soon.

OCC Day 5 & 6

Hello everyone,

Today I have a card for Day 6 and I was inspired by Debbie's card.  Since I don't have the stamp set they use in class, I improvised.

I had a piece of wood paper ( think that's what it is) that came in one of the Simon Says Stamp card kid so I thought I would use that to stamp on.  It wasn't the best thing to heat emboss as the wood did buckle a bit.  I used my copics to colour in the leaves of the Lawn Fawn Botanicals stamp set.  I die cut the hello out of a second piece of wood paper that I was using as a test and coloured that with my copics as well to darken it so there would be a contrast and would be seen.  t used the Lawn Fawn stitched journaling die but I did some partial die cutting as I made the wood panel thinner than the actual die.   The patterned paper is also from a CK from Simon (apologize I don't have the month as I take the kits apart as soon as they come in) and used the Lawn Fawn sequins from Into the Woods as well as May Arts twine that also came in a kit.

Supplies:
Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling die
Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals
SSSCK - wood paper, May Arts twine & patterned paper
Ranger White embossing powder
SSS small Hello die
Lawn Fawn Into the Woods sequins

Online Card Classes - Stretch Your Stamps 2 - Day 3 & 4

Hello everyone!

I am participating in another Online Card Class and I am excited to get crafting.  It has been a bit of a challenge getting started as some of my stamps haven't arrived yet but that's ok, they (crossing fingers) should be here today.

I am starting with Day 3 & 4 and we are using the Milo's ABCs from Lawn Fawn.  I was just looking for a reason to by this alphabet set!  (Like I really need one)

So here is what I came up with.  My inspiration came from Julie Ebersole and mixed it up just a little.
These were so easy to do I kept going and I made up a few of them to have on hand.

I used Recollections black card stock ( I have a ton of it so I have to start using it up) and I stamped it on the Recollections 110# white card stock with Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp inks.  I used black gems to tie in the black sentiment.

Supplies:
INK:
SSS - Audrey Blue
SSS - See Glass
HA - Butter Bar
HA - Soft Vanilla
SSS - Apple Green
HA - Forever Green
HA - Pumpkin pie
SSS - Doll Pink
SSS - Cotton Candy

Camp Scrap 2014

Hey again!

Here is something I did up last week for camp.   May had given us some guidelines but I found myself focusing on the requirements, 1,2,3,4 of any combination such as 1 stamp, 2 colours, 3 embellishments and so on.  I was so worried about getting the numbers right that I kind of through that to the side and just finished my project.  I did get some of the numbers on there but I'm not sure what they would be!

I like where this was going and I may try some of the elements on this canvas on a new project in the future.  I used cotton twine, a button, embossing paste, chipboard hearts and some stickers (bottom left corner) that came in one of my SSS card kits from last year.  I used Ranger cranberry alcohol ink and I did five spots of that colour.  I also layers some die cuts from a previous project and then covered it all with Gesso (Artist Loft - Michaels)

Thanks for stopping by!
See you soon,

Honourable Gnome in the Lawnscaping Challenge #86 Watercolouring

Hello everyone,

I know I have been away from my blog for a while and I apologize for that, but I have been enjoying freedom crafting!  I am a slow crafter and sometimes I work for an hour or two just on a background and then find a way to make a card or project with it a couple of days later.  That's why I like challenges as they make me pull up my socks and speed it up a bit.  LoL!!!

I am SUPER EXCITED to share that I was chosen as an Honourable Gnome over on the Lawnscaping Challenge Watercolouring.

My daughter and I had made a card and we had lots of lovely comments about them.  She was elated with excitement as this is the first time someone commented on one of her cards.  Which I am VERY proud of her.

You can see the post here for that challenge.

As for me, I was away on vacation to the US and I was tickled with all the Tim Holts products that JoAnn's had (well compared to what I have here.  Our Michaels does have a lot of product but it takes a long time for them to get in the new stuff).  Mind you I was a bit disappointed with the lack of stamps but hey, something is better than nothing!  Here is a picture of what I picked up.  It helped that there was already 30% off (I missed the 50% by a day) and that I had a coupon for an extra 25%.

I am also participating in the latest Online Card Class - Stretch Your Stamps 2!
I am waiting for some stamps to arrive for that class so I haven't started posting my projects yet.
And yes, that would be the stamp that starts off the class!  Hehehe!  Oh well, it should be here tomorrow.

I have also been playing with new products from the Simon Says Stamp latest release "This is the life" so I am having lots of fun with those and will posting some of those soon.

This is the last week for Camp Scrap 2014 and I have to say, I am truly grateful to May for showing me that it all doesn't have to be planned or perfect and that has helped me in my creative process.  I don't worry as much when I do work on a background for two hours and nothing comes out of it.  I also enjoyed watching May go through her process when she would just "create".  She cracks me up and I love the messy freedom that she goes through.  Thanks May!

Well that is it for me.  Sorry for the ton of updates and info, I promise to spread it out a bit more next time!

Thanks for stopping by!

See you soon.

Camp Scrap 2014 Workshop Winner! That would be me!

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a long overdue post.  A few weeks ago SSS had a chance to win Twitter, all 4 Classes offered in the Camp Scrap 2014 workshop by the talented May Flaum.  So I "Tweeted for a chance to win" and guess what?????  I won!  A BIG THANKS to Simon Says Stamp!

I have to admit that I wasn't sure about the class as I had never even attempted mixed media and wasn't sure if it was something I was going to enjoy.  Well let me tell you...I am having a wonderful and fun time exploring this new medium.  It's allowing me to just "go with it".

May is so talented and has such creativity that it's making me "let loose" with my creativity and I think this is something that I will keep doing even after class.

Click on the blog candy below for the giveaway post (this is the only one I could find but it's not the one I won on)

Click the link below to see what is happening in Camp!  It's worth it.  You don't have to purchase all four classes but they are ALL very interesting.

Now for my Week 1 project.  This is my VERY first mixed media project!

Supplies:
Acrylic paint (Michaels Craftsmart brand)
Embellishements (from numerous SSS CKOM)
Lawn Fawn Into the woods sequins
Tim Holtz stencil (Michaels)
5x7 canvas (Michaels)

I had to get supplies quickly as I found out that I won on the day the camp started.

I will see you again soon!
Thanks for stopping by.

SSS Wednesday Challenge - "Let's be Clear"

Hello everyone!

I am playing along withe the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Let's be Clear".  They are featuring Clearly Besotted Stamps and you have to use something clear on your card.

Today I used a few things and the first is clear stamps.  I used the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea and I used the whale.  For the background I used stencils that I cut out with my Silhouette and used Peacock Feathers and Black Soot distress inks.  I coloured in the whale with my copics and used my white gel pen to add in the dots.

My clear part for this challenge is the liquid glass (CTMH) to cove the water spray on the top of the whale's head and clear Wink of Stella glitter pen on the waves in the background.

I stamped the sentiment in Versa Fine Onyx black ink, which is my favourite for sentiments.

I used Recollections 110# card stock for the whale, waves and the background.

Supplies:
Copic Markers (Michaels)
Lawn Fawn "Critters in the Sea" (kinsalecreations.blogspot.ca)
Silhouette (amazon.ca)
Versa Fine Onyx Black ink (Michaels)
Distress ink Peacock Feathers mini w/ mini tool (SSS CKOM)

Monster Birthday Card and Birthday Wishes Card

Hello everyone.

Today I am sharing a couple of cards I did this week.

For the first card I used one of the free Digi stamps from Create a Smile.  This is a brand-new stamp company and she is going to release her first stamp set very shortly.  I was going to try out for the design team didn't get my card up in time.  I used my white gel pen to enhance the monster's little spots.

Suplies used on this card:
Create a Smile free Digistamp
Hero Arts "It's your day" stamp set
Hero Arts Raspberry Jam shadow ink
SSS Stars & Dots stencil (May CKOM)
America Craft Twine (black)
Recollections cardstock (white)
(I purchases theses products at Simons Says Stamp and Michaels)

And for me second card I did some water colouring with my distress markers.  Michaels had a 40% coupon on your entire regular priced purchase so I picked up another pack of the markers.  Their selection for the ink pads hasn't changed in over two years so I'm improvising.

I used the markers for the back ground and the bunnies along with some shimmer mist from Heidi Swapp and Tattered Angel.  I used the Mama Elephant Femme Frames to cut out the paper.

Supplies used for this card:
Mama Elephant - Honey Bunny (Mama Elephant)
Mama Elephant - Femme Frames (Mama Elephant)
Hero Arts "Hero Hues" in black (SSS)
Hero Arts "It's your day" stamp set (SSS)
Heidi Swapp Shimmer mist in Gold and White (Michaels)
Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist in Almost Black (Michaels)
Pattern paper - MME (Home Sense)
