OCC Day 5 & 6 Watercolour for Card Makers

Hello,  I'm back with Day 5 & 6 of class.

I have to say I am REALLY enjoying this class.  I'm learning so much and having a great time being creative with watercolouring.

Here is my card for Day 5,  or should I say attempt!  I thought I would try to do Swarup's card and I now know this may be a bit more advanced than I though but will definatly come back to try it again.  I know, it's not pretty in any way, shape or form but it was fun to try.  So for day 5 I had left it as is and moved on to day 6.

Here is my card for Day 6 card.  I was inspired I guess from all three designers and their techniques in some way.

This card I used the metal watercolour paint again for the sky that I got from Amazon and used the 140lb watercolour paper I mentioned before and the brown was from my watercolour tubes from Reeves.  For the bunnies (Mama Elephant) I used the Artist Loft watercolour set from Michaels and Recollections kraft card stock.   I heat embossed the sentiment with Judikins detail clear embossing powder and that is from the same stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by and see you on Monday with more cards!

OCC Day 3 & 4 Watercolour for Card Makers

Hello everyone!

Here is my card for day 3 of the Watercolour for Card Makers.  I was inspired by Kristina's card.

I used the Canson 140lb watercolour paper.  for the background I used metallic watercolours that I got from Amazon and I love them.  They give a nice amount of shimmer. I used one of the stamp sets from a SSS CKOM for the flowers and sentiment.  I stamped the flowers with Dusty Concord distress marker and the stems I did free hand with my green distress marker (I think it was mowed lawn) and I stamped the sentiment with Versafine onyx black ink.  The card size is 3x3.

Here is my card for Day 4.  I was inspired by Yana's card.

I loved how her card turned out.  I did try a couple of different things but this seamed to work the best for me at the time.

I used a stamp set from CTMH that is retired but it's a build your sentiment set and there were a few detailed flowers and a few other images included that worked great with this technique.

I used the same Canson watercolour paper as the first card, actually I bought a 50 sheet pack before class started and that's the only water colour paper I am using.  I have 90lb watercolour paper too but I like the heavier one better.

I used inexpensive Artist Loft watercolours and black Recollections cards stock from Michaels and the sentiment is from Avery Elle Handwriten Notes.  The rest of the sentiment is inside the card.  It's "Happy Birthday To You" and I didn't like the way the "To You" would have looked on the front so I put it inside.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you for Day 4 & 5!

OCC Day 1 & 2 Watercolour for Card makers

Hello everyone!

I'm back on Day 1 & 2 of class and here are my cards so far.

Day 1:

I took inspiration from Kristina's card.  I did try all three techniques but only one turned out.

I only have one background stamp so I took a border stamp from one of the CKOM  and clear embossed it into a pattern.  I heat embossed the sentiment in Hero Arts white embossing powder on vellum and then used some enamel dots that I had made out of those peeler beads (yes I stole them from my kids)  We actually had fun doing it.  I use the Reeves watercolours and it's a set of 18 colours.  I got them at Michaels but I can't find them on their site so I couldn't link to them. (Sorry!) s

Day 2:

Here is my card for day 2.  I took inspiration from Agnieszka Malyszek and her technique was to scrible the paper with watercolour pencils and then wet them with a brush.  I popped it up on black Recollections card stock and die cut a tag from Lawn Fawn's "Tag You're It" die set out of vellum.  I used white thread and clear sequins for the embellishments.  The sentiment is from the May 2013 SSS CKOM Mother's day (I think) and cut it out with my scissors.  I then popped that up onto the vellum and the used Liquid Glass (CTMH) to adhere it to the card.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for another day of fun card making and new techniques.

Hello everyone,

For today's card it's showing more one layer techniques.

Here's the card I made.  I used Tim Holtz distress inks and I clear embossed only some of the colours to have it a bit different.  I also use America Craft ribbon to add some interest (actually it was to hide an inky incident!  ;).

C&S Day 7 & 8

Hi everyone,

Today for the Clean and Simple 3 online card class we are doing faux water colouring.

Here is my card.

I used some bassil card stock (I'm sorry I don't know the colour as it came in a CKOM) and the card base is Recollections white card stock.  I used HA Fresh peach, butter bar and tide pool and chocolate ink from CTMH.  I used my Copic colourless blender to make the water coloured look.  I used Versafine Onix Black in for the sentiment which is from CTMH as well.

It never seamed to fail, when ever I make a card 9 imps out of 10 I get ink on it in the wrong place!  LoL!

Thanks for stopping by!

OLCC C&S3 - Pre-Class Gallery

Hi everyone,

I have a few cards to share for the SSS Online Card Class Pre-class gallery.  Class starts on Monday March 10th...yipppeeee!

For this card I used my new Spellbinders dies that I saw Vicky Papaioannou over at Clips & Cuts and she uses these often and I just love them.  I used Recollections card stock as well as the SSS Pillow Talk and the matching talk bubble dies.

For this one I used the SSS Stinkn' Cute stamp set and coloured him in with my copics ( I am no expert but I'm having fun practicing).  I used the happy birthday from the Hats off to you set from Lawn Fawn and the talk bubble die is the same as the card above and finally some micro sequins from one of the SSS CKOM.  Then I used my Uni-ball white gel pen to make the lines around the card

This card I used the Hero Arts triangle background stamp along with HA Fresh Peach dye ink.  I used my other set of Spellbinders dies and the On the Mend set from Lawn Fawn.

And this one I used the Pillow Talk stamp set (again! I just love this one) and coloured it with my copics again.  I used the Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the pillow and I used my new translucent embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi (Dreamweaver) and a stencil from Heidy Swap with the hearts, stars and snow all on the same 6x6 stencil ( I love that there are three in one).  I used distress ink for the sky and mounted that up on foam squares on to an A2 size card base.

(Update - All the stamps, embossing paste and ink I got through  Simon Says Stamp and the Recollections cards stock and Spellbinders dies are from Michaels.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stenciled - Day 4 Last day of class

Hi everyone,

Well today is the last day of class and here is my card.  I have to say that this is much nicer in person.  I cut out the leaves on my Silhouette and coloured the green with a copic marker and the other one with Dark Quartz shadow ink and I also used it for the "you".

I want to thank all of you who took the time to have a look at my blog and I also want to say what a great job all the participants have done.  You should all be proud of your creations as they are wonderful.

I also want to say Thank you for all the hard work the folks at SSS for organizing these classes and the wonderful, talented designers who come up with all the challenges for us.

With that said there is another class starting in March and I can't wait to start another class.

Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stenciled - Day 2

Hi everyone,

Today (really yesterday) in class we are using stencils in a bit of a different way.   We used it by scribbling inside the stencil as a different technique.  Here is the card I did using the technique.

I used on of SSS striped stencils and I took a few pinks and reds and I did lines as the background.  I cut out a heart with my Silhouette and popped it up.  I stamped the sentiment directly on the card as well as on the heart so that I would have the full image showing.  Then to tie in the heart I did the dash lines.  Unfortunately I didn't think of it until after I put it on the card!

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
