OCC Holiday Card Workshop 2014 Day 1, 3 & 5

Hello everyone,
It's sad that the class is now over.  I am now playing catch up from the class as I had the most crazy week ever and wasn't able to post daily so here they are.

Day 1:  Duplicating Cards.

I was inspired by Kristina's card and the ease of making a lot of these.  You just form an assembly line type process and do each step to all cards before moving on to the next.  This one could be done with so many different papers and colour combo's and sky's the limit.
Fist I heat embossed the sentiment with Hero Art white embossing powder and then used the Falling Snow stencil and white embossing paste to do the snow.  I used a little die cut heart from red card stock and covered it with Christmas stickles.  Then I used the red twine to finish off the bottom of the card.

Supplies:

Falling Snow stencil - SSS
Kraft Cardstock - Michaels - Recollections
American Craft red twine - Michaels
Sentiment - November SSS SSCK 2014

Day 3:  Watercolour Cards

I used Peacock Feathers distress ink and Canson watercolour paper to create the background.  I then cut it out with the MFT Stitched rectangle stax dies.  I then cut out the Merry Christmas from SSS and then put it up on a 2.75 x 4.25 card.  I just cut an A2 size card in half and that gives me two smaller cards to use.  I find I have a better time designing cards that are smaller.

Supplies:

Cardstock - Recollections - Michaels
Distress ink - SSS
Die Cut Sentiment - SSS
Marshmallow Sequins - Pretty Pink Posh

Day 5: Gift Tags
Inspired by Debby's card and for this one I don't think I would mass produce it but I love the idea for a few that you know would appreciate the time put into it.  I used Colour shine to splatter on the background and Hero Art Fresh Peach ink for the sentiment.  Paper Smooches snowflakes dies and glued them around the tag.  I then used Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish the card.

Supplies:

Cardstock - Recollections / Michaels
Snowflakes Dies - Paper Smooches
Heidi Swapp Colourshine in the Coral - Micheals
Marshmellow sequins - Pretty Pink Posh
Tag - My Favorite Things - Stitched tags - SSS
Sentiment - Holiday Hellos - SSS

Holiday Card Workshop - Merry and Bright Card

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to be participating in the next Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop 2014!  It starts tomorrow and you still have time to register.

Now on with the card.  I have another Mama Elephant Arctic Penguins Christmas card.  These little guys are SO cute!  I just can't get enough.

I used the Mama Elephant Peek a Frame dies.  For the background I used a Hero Arts Ironwork background and stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it with pearl embossing powder from Recollections.  Then I used distress inks on the sky and used the Landscape Trio dies and cut out the snow drifts/hills.   For the cute little trees are from the Lawn Fawn "Yeti, set, go" stamp set and I coloured them in with my copics.  I used Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Crystal Clear and I used Martha Stewart sterling embossing powder for the sentiment.

I used the little snow and stars included in the Jolly and Merry stamp set that coordinates with the Arctic Penguins and I heat embossed them with the Recollections pearl embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas shaker card

Hello everyone,

I'm here with a shaker card today.  I didn't have much luck with my last shaker card I made (which was also my first one) but I love the little penguins from Mama Elephant that I just couldn't resist trying again.

I used the Arctic Penguins stamp set and I coloured the little penguin with C1 and 0 and used BG70 for the ice.  I used with my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the images. I do have the dies but for this one I wanted to fussy cut the images.  I am one of those who doesn't mind fussy cutting as long as I don't have to do too much of it!  :)

I also use the new Mama Elephant Peek A Frame dies and I used the window die to make the shaker.  I ran the it through my Cuttle Bug and then turned the die around and ran it through again so that it would cut both sides as one side only scores the paper.

I used Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear 6mm sequins along with some Simon Says Stamp itty bitty 2mm sequins that came in a card kit and unfortunately can no longer remember which one.  I used the  rectangle die from the Femme Frames die set to cut out the vellum and used an A2 sized card base to put everything one.

I used the Merry Christmas die from Simon Says Stamp from last year's Christmas release and cut that out of shimmer paper I bought at Michaels.  I used Sea Glass SSS ink to stamp out the snow which is from the Arctic Penguins set.

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Baby - Card

Hi everyone,

Today I have a baby card to share.  I used the Mama Elephant "Just Hatched" stamp set and dies.  I used an A2 top fold card and Hero Arts Soft Vanilla ink to stamp a patterned background with the chick and one of the little extra stamps included in the set.

I cut out of pattenred paper (6x6 pad I've had for years) and used the inside oval from the Simon Says Stamp Frames Craft dies.  I sponged the edges with Hero Arts Butter Bar ink to have it pop off the card.  I then stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink and used foam tape to adhere it to the card front. The sweet little chicks were stamped with Momento black and coloured with copics (Y13 & Y15).  To finish off the chicks I used a white gel pen to add a few dots to their cheeks.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!

Merry and Bright - Card share

Hello everyone,

Today I have my very first Christmas Card of the season!

It's an A2 size, side fold card cut in half.   I used the tree from Lawn Fawn's new "Snow Day" stamp set and used Prismacolor pencils to colour it in.  Then I used my white gel pen to add in a little dot detail.  I fussy cut it out and popped it up on form tape.

I used the sentiment from the set and I just love the way they did the "and".  I used Momento Tuxedo black ink.

For the background I used one of the small dots that comes with the set and stamped it with SSS Fog ink then use my clear Wink of Stella glitter brush and went over all the little dots.

I then took my black gel pen and went around the edges to create a border.  Then I used a silver gel pen to go along the edge again and you know when you wonder if something will look good and you go and put your pen to the paper, the realize that you should have just left well enough alone, this was that moment!  Hahaha!  Oh well.

Supplies used are linked throughout this post.  If there is no link on an item then it was purchased at Michaels.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday & Hello Cards

Hello everyone!

I have a couple of cards that I share sneak peaks on my Instagram account earlier this month.

The first card is an image from the latest Online Card Classes - Copics for Card Makers.  I used the negative from the SSS Frames dies, Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins in 6mm and the Viva Decor Pen in Ice White (JoAnn's) to make the little pearl dots.

Here are the colours I used for the flowers.  The class does end tomorrow but they will be announcing the next one soon.

For this card I used the October SSSCK "Friendship Has its Perks".  I love this stamp set.  Yes I'm a sucker for coffee cups, hehe!  I stamped the cups on Copic X-press It paper and used copics to colour them.  I then fussy cut them and popped them up on foam tape.  I used the SSS Fog ink to stamp the steam and a Copic 0.5 multiline to make the lines around the card.  I felt that it needed something to balance it out.

Hello Baby - Card

Hello everyone,

Today I have a baby card to share.

I used a couple of Lawn Fawn sets.  An oldie but a goodie and a newer one.

For the patterned paper, I used an old pad chic which was baby themed but it's so old I can't remember what the name of it was.  I also used the Mama Elephant Femme Frames, Mama Elephant Landscape Trio Creative Cuts dies for the clouds, Lawn Fawn's Grassy border die for the grass.

I combined the two stamp sets as well as Pretty Pink Posh crystal clear
6mm sequins and MME white enamel dots that came in one of the SSSCK.

I used my copics to do the colouring and a Gelly Roll white gel pen to add in the little dots on the bunnies.

All the supplies shown were purchased through Simon Says Stamp except the copics, which were purchased my my local art store and Michaels.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lawnscaping Challenge #91 - Patterned Paper

Hello Everyone!

Today I have a card to share for the Lawnscaping Challenge.

I used the new stamp set from Lawn Fawn for Simon Says Stamp.  Unfortunately it is now sold out as it was on while supplies last during the SSS Stamptember event.  I love the images in this set and the sentiments.

I will admit that there are a couple of boo-boos on this card.  I don't know about you but I am forever putting my baby wipe down on my desk and it get either on top of or beside my projects or partial cards I'm working on and ruins them.  This card is no different but with the help of the Online Card Class - Copics for Card makers they had tips and tricks to hide mistakes.

The first one is the sentiment which I used Momento Onyx Black ink to stamp it.  I got so caught up in putting the card together, I forgot to stamp my sentiment.  Needless to say it didn't stamp out as it was popped up on foam adhesive.  I got to thinking and decided to stamp it again on card stock and fussy cut it out and then pop it up.

Number two was the baby wipe issue.  in the top right corner got wet and the ink started to bleed.  This is the reason for the leaves being popped up on the edge.  So I popped up a few of the leaves around the border.

I used the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duos 2 rectangle die for the panel and then just added another piece of card stock behind it and coloured the edges with a Copic marker to match the colours on the leaves and enamel dots from My Minds Eye that came in my SSSCK (unfortunately I no longer remember from which one)

OCC Day 6 & 7

Hello everyone!

I know I haven't been posting much on my blog lately as we finally got the computer back tonight...Yay!!!!!  Our old one crashed so when we had the data transferred over to the new one we found out that the old one could be fixed.  So...that means I get the new computer!  **happy dance**.

Now on to Day 6 of Copics for Card Makers. I have a BIG soft spot for most anything Lawn Fawn, so when I saw these were in as the class practice images I was tickled pink.  I just love this pup from the Critters in the Burbs and the fox is just as adorable from the Critters in the Forest.

Day 7.  I love this little robot vampire!  He is just adorable.  Sandy took us through how to make the image look more realistic with shadows and highlights with difficult colours such as red, white and black.  She makes it look so easy and seamless but it's a bit trickier than it looks but super fun to do.

Here is what I did for the flowers with the reds and whites.

Online Card Class - Copic Colouring for Card Makers Day 1 & 2.

Hello everyone!

I know it's been a long time since I've posted anything on my blog.  There were some family things I had to deal with and as soon as that was all taken care of and I finally had time to post on my blog again, my hubby's computer wasn't working.  So...with that said it's now up and running!  Thank you for being patient.

On to the newest Online Card Class that is "Copics for Card Makers"!  How exciting is that!!!!
I think I'm safe to say that I am NOT the only one who has been waiting for this class for a very long time.  It's still not too late to join if you are interested.

So for the first week will be about technique and getting used to what your Copics can do.  Sandy Allnock, Kristina Werner & Jennifer McGuire and guests are doing an amazing job at showing us that Copics don't have to be scary!

Here is what I've been working on the past few days...

Day 1,  I love the colours of the present now that I look at it from here.

Day 2...

I'm still having computer issues so I will add links to the teachers' websites in my next post (hopefully!)
That's all for today.  Stay tuned for Day 3 & 4 coming tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey pumpkin - Card

Hello everyone.

I have a card to share and it's my first Halloween card of the season.   I have to admit as much as I love all the Halloween stamps and decorations we are not much into the holiday.

I used the SSS hey pumpkin stamp set, distress inks, LF sequins and Copics to color the kitty and pumpkin. I used Versafine onyx fir the sentiment and a Fabre castel PITT artist pen in size M for the lines around the image. I also used some embroidery thread behind the image to add dimension. The stencil is one I found at Michaels in a four pack of 3x3 stencils. The card is 4x4.25  and to finish it off I used Wink if Stella clear glitter pen but unfortunately you can't see it.

I wanted to let you all know that I may not be posting much in the next few weeks as I have my grandmother who is in palliative care so I'm spending most of my time with her and my family.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lawn Fawn - Thinking of you Card

Hello everyone,

Here is a card I made with the Lawn Fawn "Friendship Grows" stamp set.  I stamped the image with Ranger Archival ink and coloured in the sunflower with distress inks.   I used embossing paste and coloured it with distress ink and then I used Tim Holtz Honeycomb stencil for the background.

I used the Mama Elephant Femme Frames stitched rectangle die to cut it out the panel.  I then cut out a piece of vellum and sewed it on the top and bottom of my panel.  I mounted that onto a piece of mustard colour card stock that came with an old SSS CK and I'm sorry but I don't have the colour anymore.  I then mounted all of that onto my card base which is Recollections 110# card stock.  I used the Lawn Ornaments sequins that came from another CK but they are no longer listed on the SSS website.  I also used Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Crystal Clear sequins as well.

I then stamped the sentiment with Memento tuxedo black ink from the "In my Heart" stamp set, which is SO adorable!

Thanks for stopping by!

See you again soon.

S'More fun! - Lawn Fawn Card

Hello everyone,

Well today was the first day of school for my girls and it was successful.  My youngest did not do so well at first as she is going into grade 1, but she did great after a few minutes.  My oldest did great, as soon as she saw her friends, mom and dad could be on their way!

I have a card to share with you that I made with Lawn Fawn's Love you S'MORE set.

I needed to get used to my distress inks as I was not getting the hang of the blending part.  I was always getting streaks no matter what I did but stubbornness prevailed and I think I figured it out...for this time at least!  I used Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord as well as Mowed Lawn and Forrest Moss (all purchased as Simon Says Stamp) to give the hills and grass some dimension and I used the Mini ink blending tool and the regular ink blending tool as well.

I used the Grassy Border dies from LF at the bottom as the bottom of the card needed something so I used a strip of grass to fill it in and I think it did the trick.  I did used the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies for the hills as my LF Stitched Hillside Borders Dies aren't in yet (but they are on there way!!!!!!) Unfortunately they are currently out of stock but it won't take long for them to get more in.

I used the Tiny Back Drops with Hero Arts white embossing powder for the starry background and the sentiment which I embossed on a piece of black card stock.  I used my copics to colour in the critters, moon and the flames.

You can't see it very well but I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the marshmallows and the flames.  I used Recollections 110# card stock as well as a Kraft card base and I stamped the LF Woodgrain Backdrops on the base just for an additional element.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you soon with another card.

Cutting Edge Blog Hop - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello everyone,

I'm joining the Cutting Edge Blog Hop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.

There are some wonderful sponsors as you can see.

Now for my card.  I was going through Debbie Hughs blog the other day and I was inspired by one of her cards.  You can see it here.

I used the "Under the Sea" set from the Simon "This is the life" release.  I die cut them from the coordinating die set and coloured them in with my copics.  I wanted the fish to look like it was swimming up and down in the water so one of the fish is pointing up.  I popped up one of the fish with foam dots.

I used the coordinating stencil to do the background and I used my Tim Holtz mini distress inks in Salty Ocean and Broken China.  I used the Pretty Pink Posh new die set "Stitched Duo 2" set and I used both pieces.  I had some embroidery thread and used that in the back.  They to finish it off I used the Pretty Pink Posh 6mm Crystal Clear sequins and the Simon Says Stamp assorted 4mm and I think the itty-bitty ones are 2mm and I used those for the bubbles.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine onyx black ink.  For the card stock I used the Recollections 110# white card.

Supplies:

Copics (Michaels)
Versafine (Michaels)
Blending tool (SSS)

OCC Day 11 - Play Day

Hello everyone,

Today is the last day of class and it's time to play.

I was inspired by Laura's card and here is what I did.

I love the gradient colour and I also love my SSS inks.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine and since it stays wet longer I was able to heat emboss it with clear embossing powder.   I used two different sentiments and used a different part of the stamp from each set.  I used the "wherever you go" from Up and Away - Mama Elephant and "shine" from The Big, the Bold & Fun - Winnie & Walter.  I cut down the card front and popped it up with foam squares onto a A2 size card base.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp: Favorite Flowers (SSS)
Winnie & Walter:  The Big, the bold & Fun (SSS)
Judikins Clear embossing powder (amazon.ca)
Simons Says Stamp Inks:  Sea Glass, Mint, Audrey Blue and Soft Navy.
Hero Arts Shadow ink:  Tide Pool (SSS)
Versafine Onnyx Black ink (SSS)
Recollections 110# white card stock(Michaels)

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!
